I'm cold to the touch
Sweat bleeds from my face & from my crutch
And still, I'm cold to the touch
Never fear, Billy's here,
To brighten your day with another bi-polar tirade
It's complicated but I think you'll get it
This street looks the same as it ever was but it's not,
It's full of strangers now & rot
Dangerous liars & the reek of pot.
Even my face doesn't ring any bells,
There's all these lines & lines;
Souvenirs from hell.
This smile I wear is not paint - it's fear;
Words unspoken, for the reasons I'm here.
My mission is a complex of questions & answers,
Romantic sentiments designed to keep you & me aligned,
While I try & describe why I'm right & you should listen
The world isn't right, just because you say it is;
There's people up there laughing
Living off the profits of starving kids; facts barely exist.
But what are you or I to say;
When those people up there tell us it's okay,
While they seductively feed us crumbs?
What are we to do?
I haven't really thought it through but listen,
How about we take the next pseudo-Farage
(who thinks he's in charge),
Stick him on a raft in the middle of the ocean & see how he likes it?
Am I right or am I right...?
But don't let it keep you up at night,
You have your own things to worry about;
Like, the oil peek crisis, the rising homelessness
The World Cup... Oh, & don't forget the washing up!
Are your affairs in order?
How about your priorities?
Do you feel safe & okay, or are you weak in the knees?
Me too but no,
I don't know what we should do;
I'm cold to the touch.
I'm hot in my head & I'm thinking too much.
Still, I'm cold to the touch!
Let's turn things around.
By my count we have 30 years to change how we think & feel,
To start to treat life like it's real.
It'll be hard but it'll work
I have faith in us,
I live in trust that honesty will get the better of lust.
"Greed is good" they say?
I say; "Fuck off!"
I don't need what makes them better off.
I'll be fine right here with you good people,
While they're crowded & alone in their ivory steeples.
Money my arse.
I work for the greater good putting love into words & feeling like I should.
And on this day I proclaim
That fun & freedom be the only way
And whoever comes & tries to tell us to behave
We'll say; "No sir, I won't. I'm nobodies slave;"
"I'm cold to the touch!"
